The «Vauban Fort  » at low tide.

Built by Vauban together with 6 other forts, it is the only one left.

It is part of a project edicted in 1680 by louis XIV, who, after visiting the site, already used by the Romans and the English, decided to built a military port.

You can now see it as it was in the XVIIth century, in front of the sea, on a rocky promontory, isolated on the Slack River's edge and its coastal dunes (a listed site).
