The statue of Dr Edward Jenner

Edward Jenner (1749-1823), an English physician, was the pioneer of vaccination (against smallpox),
which he tried for the first time (on June 18th, 1800) on three Boulogne girls.
To commemorate that first vaccination, the statue of Dr Edward Jenner was inaugurated on September 11th, 1865.
