At the foot of Cape Blanc-Nez.

A road from the near-by village of Escalles takes you to this beach.
Escalles (called Scales at the time of the English occupation of the area west,
east and south of Calais, what is known as the Pale) even had a Lord bearing that name!
Escalles stood at the western end of the English Pale, very close to the border with France.
In spite of its Anglo-Saxon name Wissant (white sand) was never part of the Pale.
