From the top of Cape Gris-Nez jutting out into the sea you can enjoy a magnificent view.

Weather permitting, you can see as far as the Dover cliffs on the other side,
Cape Blanc-Nez to the North-East and the Boulogne district southwards : you can even make out Napoleon’s Column,
where the Emperor first distributed Legion of Honour medals to his best soldiers and officers.
During the 2nd World War the Nazis did not remove or destroy the statue
because Napoleon is shown rudely turning his back to England !
