The so-called “customs officers’ footpath”,
leading from Cape Gris-Nez to Audresselles (from North to South).

Indeed, not so long ago (end of the 19th century) ,
customs officers used to patrol the area close to the cliff edge,
always on the look-out for any kind of smuggling between France and England (or vice-versa).
